Please meet fundraising bear "Percy Pilgrim" Designed & handmade by me Rachel Summersby of Wee Beary Tails. I hope you like him, he is a very special little bear I have created to help raise money for the Pilgrims Hospices. Nige this year has been coming up with creative ways to raise money for the Pilgrims Hospices during the lockdown as well as taking part in some challenges they have organised too, including a Firewalk back in early March, a virtual cycling challenge towing a trailer with my big childhood bear 'Sam' and this week he completed a training walk to the Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury walking with a wheelbarrow with my bear Sam :) You can read more about what he is up to this year by clicking on this link www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TheSpeedyPilgrim  He also agreed to shave his head once he reached £250 which he did in May! He is on his way to £500 at the moment, once he reaches that target he is shaving the beard (which by now birds can nest in LOL). So I said to Nige I would make a special bear & add 100%  of his adoption fee to Nige's fundraising page. The Pilgrims Hospices staff are truly incredible, helping people facing incurable illness to live well in every moment feeling like a home from home, a relaxed space to be, with the worldwide pandemic, holding fundraising events with lots of people taking part have been put back until later in the year when it will be safer to do them, but in the meantime they still need funds to support the amazing service they provide. 

Little Percy Pilgrim measures approx 5.25" tall when he is standing and 3.5" when sitting - due to his design he does prefer to sit!

He has been created from wavy blue tones batik mohair - chosen as it is in the Pilgrims Hospice blue colours, matching blue cashmere fabric paw pads and inner ears. Fully jointed with cotter pin joints, he is weighted with steel shot in his body, all his joints move freely making him very poseable. 

He also has a sewn in woven ribbon tag in his back, black glass eyes, tones of rainbow perle cotton thread nose. Black perle cotton thread smiley mouth & eyebrow detail, he has a needle sculpted face. He wear a rainbow organza ribbon tied in a bow around his neck and also a silvertone scallop shell pendant around his neck. During the last few months the rainbow has come to symbolize hope, and I thought it would be a great colour nose for this lovely little guy.
